Core beliefs and practices
We at Victoria Hall recognise the Bible, the complete revealed Word of God, as our sole authority and Jesus Christ as our rightful head in all matters of faith, doctrine, and church practice. As a church we are answerable to God alone and have no other central authority that we must obey. In common with a number of other independent churches, Victoria Hall has a group of elders responsible for our church government and spiritual welfare. We have no senior minister or pastor in charge and we exercise plurality of ministry.
Without being critical of other believers, or more seriously, seeking to suppress the work of the Holy Spirit, the elders believe and request before God, that in keeping with the guidance of the Holy Spirit for us, if someone considers that he or she has gifts of tongues etc, he or she should not exercise them in our public gatherings but “should keep quiet in the church and speak to yourself and to God” 1 Cor 14:28 (NIV).
